We arrived safely if one day late, Team was a.bit tired. We stopped for lunch at Subway. And everyone tried out their Spanish. Today was a day of construction and chasing supplies. The size of the job continues to grow. There is so much to be done. We dropped 3 of the team at a small farm that was given to Sunrise. They planned and began the process of converting an old building into a chicken coop suitable for 100 or more chickens. All in good health and enjoying the country, the people, and the food.

Team packing
The team came together for a very productive evening of dessert (!) and packing 9 team bags for travel South. Bag #10 is the guitar David will be taking. Between vacuum shrinking sleeping bags & coveralls, matching pairs of tennis shoes & stuffing small ones inside larger shoes, wrapping donated books into bundles, and distributing team supplies to balance bag weights, there was plenty of work for all. It was a great display of unity and effective teamwork. And the reward was finding that everything fit!

Postponed!
At the airport we felt 'all dressed up with nowhere to go' - at least until tomorrow! Mechanical difficulties with our plane to Dallas TX delayed our flight to the extent that we could not make our connecting flight to Argentina. With there being only one flight per day to Buenos Aires, we were rescheduled for 24 hours later - same time, same place tomorrow, Saturday. At least we know everyone has their bags packed!

Getting Ready to Go
We had our last official team meeting before we leave. We have had a wonderful rich time bonding as a team. We will be spending Tuesday evening together as we pack our luggage for our trip.
One of the first things we decided as a team was that our team motto would be “Flexibility”!
Our team will have a two-fold purpose. We will be doing ministry with the children. This will involve ministry on three to four evening/nights a week and weekends. We will be visiting different churches in the town and also visiting parks and ministering in the town we will be in. We will also be spending time with the children at the home.
The second part of the trip will be some light construction in an already existing building. We will be constructing walls, windows, ceilings and electrical to make the area into offices. Since we do not have exact plans to work from we may arrive and need to start all over on what plans we have (remember our team motto). We will all be participating in all aspects of the projects; however many of us have different skills and experiences which will be to our advantage as we strive to glorify our Lord in everything we do. We will also be looking at how we can help with an area that might be used for gardens and to raise some poultry to help the children’s home with food and begin teaching the children how to grow their own food.
We are not sure what we will run into as far as materials and tools, so we have already acquired tools either from some of our own tools or through purchases. After we complete the trip we will be leaving the tools and materials for future construction projects.
When you are praying for the team, please remember us in several ways. Pray that we are able to obtain all of the building materials and tools we need. Pray also that we would have the patience to not only work with tools and materials that we have, but also to have a teaching attitude as we include the entire team and the different children we will include in our work projects. Also be praying that we will be able to complete the projects before we leave.
We are really looking forward to spending time with the Feeneys. What a great couple to be representing our church on the field. Pray that our visit would also give them encouragement!

We are ten...
Dear Friends,
We were ten when we began team building in February. Unfortunately, one of our members had to drop out. Our daughter Kareen was able to rearrange her work schedule at two jobs so that she could go with us. That is great news. She speaks excellent Spanish, having lived in Peru and Chile. Sunrise is planning to do an expansion of the gardens at the granja, a small farm that has been given to them. Kareen is familiar with vegetable gardening, and raised chickens when she was younger, so she will be a great asset to our team.
Three meetings to go, and we will be on our way. So soon.

Singing In Spanish
Hey everyone, David here!
If you know me, you've probably seen me playing guitar on a stage somewhere. I love that I get to play almost every weekend at Good Shepherd with the worship teams in the North and South auditoriums. Occasionally I get the privilege to help lead worship with kids at camps, with Breakout, during chapel at Good Shepherd School, and even on other mission trips. Shortly after getting accepted on this team going to Argentina it became apparent that I would be packing a guitar once again, but this time with a new challenge: lead all the songs in Spanish!
I don't speak Spanish, but now I have been learning. Like most of you I knew a few phrases, but that's about it! Because the majority of the people on this team also don't speak Spanish It has been quite a challenge finding the right songs. Together we went back and forth a lot until we pared down the possibilities to a handful of songs that everyone was comfortable with. Our team members have been listening to the Spanish versions, relearning familiar tunes in a foreign tongue. To every team meeting I bring a guitar so we can practice singing a few songs together. It is quite a challenge, but we pray that our efforts to connect with the kids and staff through music will make an impact for Christ!
If you would like to sing along with us follow the links below!
Solo Tu Eres Dios - You Alone are God
Cuán Grande es Dios - How Great is Our God
Grande Para Salvar - Mighty to Save
Gracia Sublime Es - This is Amazing Grace
Quién Soy Yo - Who Am I?
Por Siempre - Forever
The Team is Getting Ready!
The team is progressing well. Supplies have been ordered in Argentina. We received approval from Good Shepherd to have a table in the lobby soon to enable people to sponsor a pair of shoes for the kids. As you can imagine, 75 kids go through a lot of shoes! We have received a tentative offer of 11 sets of overalls for the team, to protect our clothes while we are working. Thanks to Dwight Marquart of Gresham Toyota, and the people at U.S. Linen $ Uniform.
