Singing In Spanish

Hey everyone, David here!

If you know me, you've probably seen me playing guitar on a stage somewhere. I love that I get to play almost every weekend at Good Shepherd with the worship teams in the North and South auditoriums. Occasionally I get the privilege to help lead worship with kids at camps, with Breakout, during chapel at Good Shepherd School, and even on other mission trips. Shortly after getting accepted on this team going to Argentina it became apparent that I would be packing a guitar once again, but this time with a new challenge: lead all the songs in Spanish!

I don't speak Spanish, but now I have been learning. Like most of you I knew a few phrases, but that's about it! Because the majority of the people on this team also don't speak Spanish It has been quite a challenge finding the right songs. Together we went back and forth a lot until we pared down the possibilities to a handful of songs that everyone was comfortable with. Our team members have been listening to the Spanish versions, relearning familiar tunes in a foreign tongue. To every team meeting I bring a guitar so we can practice singing a few songs together. It is quite a challenge, but we pray that our efforts to connect with the kids and staff through music will make an impact for Christ!
